1. Introduction
These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) set out the agreement between In The Making (“we”, “us”, “our”) and any person booking or attending one of our workshops or events, whether public or private (“you”, “your”). By booking or attending an event, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms.
2. Booking and Payment – Public Workshops
2.1 All public workshop bookings must be made online through our booking system.
2.2 Full payment is required at the time of booking to secure your place.
2.3 No booking or administrative fees apply.
2.4 Your booking is not transferable without our prior written consent.
3. Booking and Payment – Private Events (Parties & Group Bookings)
3.1 A £30 non-refundable deposit is required to secure the date and time of a private event.
3.2 The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than seven (7) days before the event date.
3.3 If full payment is not received by this deadline, we reserve the right to cancel the booking and retain the deposit.
3.4 Prices for private events include:
* Set-up and clean-up time
* All materials and equipment
* Maintenance and general running costs
3.5 Any additional costs (for example, extended duration or bespoke materials) will be agreed in writing in advance.
4. Cancellations and Refunds
4.1 Public Workshops:
(a) You may cancel up to two (2) weeks before the scheduled workshop date for a full refund.
(b) Cancellations made less than two weeks before the workshop will only be refunded if we are able to fill your place.
4.2. Private Events (Parties & Group Bookings)
(a) The £30 deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances.
(b) If you cancel more than seven (7) days before the event, no further charges will apply beyond the deposit.
(c) If you cancel within seven (7) days of the event, the full balance remains payable.
4.3 If we need to cancel an event for any reason (including illness, unforeseen circumstances, or insufficient numbers), you will receive a full refund of any monies paid or the option to transfer to another date.
4.4 Refunds will be processed via the original payment method.
5. Duration and Timings
5.1 The duration and timings of public events are clearly stated on the events page on our website.
5.2 Unless otherwise stated, private events run for up to two (2) hours from the agreed start time.
5.3 Additional time may be available at a cost of £50 per hour (or part thereof), subject to availability.
5.4 Any extended duration must be agreed in advance of the event.
5.5 Late arrival by attendees will not extend the event duration.
6. Attendance and Supervision (Including Children’s Parties)
6.1 Age limits and suitability will be confirmed at the time of booking.
6.2 For children’s parties and events involving minors, a minimum supervision ratio of one (1) responsible adult per four (4) children is required at all times.
6.3 Supervising adults are responsible for the behaviour, safety, and wellbeing of the children in their care.
6.4 We are not responsible for managing individual behaviour. If a child or adult behaves in a way that is unsafe, disruptive, or breaches these Terms, we reserve the right to ask them to leave the event. No refund will be given in such cases.
7. Health and Safety
7.1 We carry out risk assessments for all activities and take reasonable steps to ensure participant safety.
7.2 Activities may involve the use of sharp tools, paints, inks, or other potentially messy or hazardous materials.
7.3 While aprons are provided, you attend at your own risk and are responsible for your clothing and personal belongings. We accept no liability for damage or staining.
7.4 All participants must follow instructions given by staff at all times.
7.5 We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
8. Venue Access and Suitability
8.1 Our studio is located on an upper floor and is not accessible by lift.
8.2 It is your responsibility to ensure the venue is suitable for all members of your group before booking.
9. Property and Damage
9.1 You are responsible for any damage caused to our premises, equipment, or materials beyond reasonable wear and tear.
9.2 We reserve the right to charge for repair or replacement costs.
9.3 Items created during the event should be taken home on the day. We can store finished works but accept no responsibility for items left behind.
10. Ownership of Work
10.1 You retain full ownership and copyright of any work you create during our events.
10.2 You may use your creations for personal or commercial purposes without restriction.
11. Photography and Marketing
11.1 We may take photographs or short videos during events for marketing and promotional purposes.
11.2 By attending, you consent to being included in such materials.
11.3 If you do not wish to be photographed or filmed, please notify us at the start of the event.
12. Conduct and Behaviour
12.1 We aim to provide a friendly, inclusive, and safe environment.
12.2 We reserve the right to refuse entry or remove any participant whose behaviour is unsafe, abusive, disruptive, or inappropriate.
12.3 No refunds will be given if a participant is asked to leave under this clause.
13. Force Majeure
13.1 We are not liable for failure or delay in performance due to events beyond our reasonable control, including (but not limited to) illness, power failure, transport disruption, fire, flood, or other natural disasters.
14. Liability
14.1 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence or for fraud.
14.2 Subject to the above, we exclude all other liability to the fullest extent permitted by law.
15. Data Protection
15.1 We process personal data in accordance with UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
15.2 Personal data will only be used to manage bookings, deliver our services, and (where consent is given) send marketing communications.
15.3 We will not sell or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.
15.4 You may withdraw marketing consent at any time by contacting us at verity@inthemaking.org.uk.
16. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
